As a Systems Engineer, you build the infrastructure that connects a person standing on a corner with the nearest available driver in seconds. You solve problems that involve real-time GPS data, traffic patterns, and complex pricing, all happening at the same time globally.
Daily Tasks
- Build and maintain highly available infrastructure to support millions of concurrent users.
- Optimize cloud resource usage to ensure cost-effective scaling.
- Design 'self-healing' systems that can recover automatically from hardware failures.
- Collaborate with security teams to protect rider and driver location data.
Salary & Benefits
Total pay: $190,000 - $275,000. Benefits include Uber credits, comprehensive health insurance, and performance-based equity grants.
Requirements
10+ years in infrastructure or DevOps roles. Mastery of Go, Python, or Java and experience with large-scale microservices.
